St. Louis American : Blueprint4SummerSTL links students with fun and learning during school off season.

Summer vacation is something most students dream about, but when it comes to mapping it out it can be more of a nightmare for moms.

“Over the years I’ve spent countless hours online and playing phone tag trying to find a solution for my son,” says Naretha Hopson, a busy mom.

It’s a story Maxine Clark, yes the same woman who created Build-A-Bear Workshop, has heard over and over again.

“As I’ve come in contact with so many parents and some young students that I mentor, when I found out what was the difference between a child who was really successful whether they went to a public school, charter school or even a private school. A lot of times it was a well-rounded activity base,” explains Clark.
